Contacting your Congress Member
From time to time, AGT may inform its members of important legislative issues under consideration by members of the U.S. Congress and ask them to contact their U.S. Representative or U.S. Senator regarding the issue. Often people are confused about how to reach the elected officials. The following imformation is provided to help you identify and contact your House or Senate member.
Email, phone, or fax are the preferred methods to contact the offices.
Contacting Members of the U.S Congress
There are at least two routes to get the information you need to contact Congress via the internet:
To get your Representative's email address, you may visit:

This convenient web site allows you to type in your zip code and automatically links you to your Member's email address.
To reach Senators by email, please visit:

At this site, you will find an alphabetical listing of Senators with live links to their email addresses.
Or, you may use "Thomas":

At this site, you can find the text of bills under consideration. On the first page of the site, there is a blank where you can fill in the number of the bill and get directly to the text. On the left side of the Thomas page, there is a link to access contact information (mailing address and email) for the Senate and the House of Representatives. If you're not sure, you can enter a ZIP code to determine who the House member is. Then there is a link that allows you to type (or paste) your message in and send it.
Calling your Representative / Senators:
To contact your Members by phone, call the Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and ask to be transferred to the member's office. Once you have connected with the office, ask to speak with the legislative assistant (LA) who handles health care or laboratory issues, or call the local office and request an appointment to meet with your Member while he/she is home during the August recess.
